Part Number:1726
An elegant pair of polished chromium Art Deco "Taurex" candle holders designed by industrial designer Walter Von Nessen for the Chase Metalworks Co., of Waterbury, CT. Von Nessen designed these in 1933 and they were manufactured from that year through 1937 when they were discontinued.

The "Chase" mark is imprinted on the underside of the detachable candle sockets. The candle inserts are also detachable.

Walter Von Nessen (1889-1943), a leading proponent of the American Streamline Modern design movement, created many of his pieces for Chase from the copper tubing and brass fixtures already in production.

It was during the Modernist-inspired fourth segment of the Chase product line in the 1930s that the company commissioned outside design talent and expended most of its manufacturing, marketing, and promotional efforts. Additionally, this segment arouses the zeal of serious Chase collectors where asking prices can range upwards of $1500 for a single rare and desirable piece. (click here~icblv/chasedoc.htm)
